Renew / revoke ios distribution certificates - impact on ad-hoc users

My distribution certificate is expiring and I would like to know:

If I cancel it and create a new one, will my testers stop working?

These testers use the build version of the application with the ad-hoc Provision profile. This is not a version of the application, but a test version.

I assume that they will continue to work fine, as the certificate is not verified every time it uses the application, but I want to be sure before canceling it.

The version on their devices will work until the expiration of the installed profile. It should only affect applications that are not yet installed and will be installed by the old ipa. After rejection, only a new ipa with a new profile can be installed.
