I am running the xubuntu x86 guest console on an x64 host for Windows 8 using VirtualBox. I managed to install Xubuntu and get some updates on the virtual machine, but after restarting the first wave of updates, I clicked on this screen at boot time. If you donβt see the image that says: "The drive for / tmp is not ready yet or not" and prompts the user to either skip S or manually install using M
I found that this (post # 4) should solve the problem for most people, but trying to enter any command for all reasons the OS completely freeze. The VirtualBox process is practically not used to use the CPU, but only a reboot or REISUB. I can not get past this screen, no matter what I tried. I want to know if there is a way to fix this problem before this screen on boot
Additional notes. I would also add that I had the same problem with Ubuntu versions 11.10 and 12.04, as well as on Xubuntu versions 12.04 (all x86). After going through some painful and unsuccessful installation processes, I just want to use Ubuntu
UPDATE: for some reason, I was not able to skip the above screen by pressing any key; this is strange, because every time I booted the virtual machine, it froze at this point. I started using my knowledge of this problem to ensure that my file system was read-written (apparently the "/ tmp not ready" screen appears when your file system is read-only). However, the second time I rebooted the virtual machine for updates and installation changes, I again encounter the same problem. I can not get past this frozen screen
