How to simulate the transfer of a keyword to a website from a search engine?

We made a site using sitecore. And we have a rule for the DMS part, when the keyword search contains an SUV, then we do something. But my question is how to check this rule, we have prepared everything for backup. How to pass the keyword 'suv' to our website to simulate a search engine?

You can create your own page that mimics a search engine (or just a page with a link to your application and open it with the keyword SUV - http://mytestengine/index.html?q=SUV ) and go from this page to the Sitecore application. You should also add a new engine definition to the configuration:

 <engine hostname="www.google" parametername="q"/> <engine hostname="mytestengine" parametername="q"/>

Do not forget to clear your browser history before testing the solution - in another case, your visit will not be considered as a new visit.

In the past, I used the Tamper Data Firefox plugin to test some DMS features. The plugin will allow you to intercept the request to your site and update the referrer as follows: http://www.google.com?q=suv .

Steps:

  • Open a page that has a link to your site in Firefox.
  • Open Tamper Data Plugin.
  • Select "Start Tamper".
  • Click the link to your site.
  • When prompted, select "Tamper."
  • Change the "Referrer" field to: http://www.google.com?q=suv (or any search engine you want to test).
