How to find out if the java Mongo driver is compatible with this Mongo Server?

I appreciate updating my java-mongo driver to 2.11.1, but I'm not sure if it is backward compatible.

The release notes do not indicate driver compatibility, so I cannot be sure that I need to update the production server.

Even if my specific needs are for backward compatibility, I would like to know if there is any agreement between the driver version number and the mongo version, which will give us a hint about its compatibility.

You can find compatibility for drivers starting from 2.11 here . Basically, version 2.11 only supports MongoDB 2.4
