After installing Visual Studio 2012 Update1 , new buttons were added, but unfortunately Solution Explorer became incredibly slow. All mouse events on it (click, right-click, double-click, on the toolbar or on any item) require a response in 5-10 seconds.
After the incorrect update rate1 returned to normal (= immediate).
Perhaps one of the possible reasons is the addition of new buttons, perhaps "Show on code card." Unfortunately, I can’t find a way to configure (remove buttons) from the Solution Explorer toolbar; the "Show on code card" extension is not installed. I have no idea how to explore further.
At least one guy got the same problem ( here ), maybe someone has a solution or ideas on how to continue the investigation.

UPDATE:
Microsoft released Visual Studio 2012 Update 2 ;
now, with update 2, everything has returned "normal speed",
therefore this question can be considered closed / deprecated. :-)
