How to log in to Facebook without the Facebook app?

I am using the Facebook example application ( SessionLoginSample ) to understand how to log in to Facebook. My Facebook SDK is the latest - version 3.0 . When I have the Facebook application installed, I can log in without any problems.

The problem is that I uninstall my Facebook application and reinstall the sample (so that it does not register automatically). I try to enter, but I see only a white empty dialogue. The only option is to close it. Even if I wait 10-15 minutes, the dialogue does not change.

SessionLoginSample - Login

I tried to debug the SDK for Facebook, but could not find the cause of the error.

I tested this on the LG-E610 (4.0.3) and HTC Sensation (4.0.3).

Is this a facebook sdk error or am i doing something wrong?

Edit: I tested this problem again after 10 days in the same codes, and everything seems to work as expected.

The problem may not be on your side! I was faced with a situation where the same request on Facebook will respond as expected, or with a "500 Internal Server Error" depending on my IP (more precisely, IP / User agent).

You can be absolutely sure that nothing happens with your configuration and application if:

My suspicion is that Facebook puts certain IP / user agent combinations on a temporary blacklist. The problem is that their general answer of 500 does not help.

For another reported case, see my question on Internal Server 500 from Facebook using a separate IP / user-agent combination
