Rails Facebook Notifications

In my Rails 3 app, I have Users, Products, and Likes. If a User submits a Product and another user uses this product, I want this User to receive a notification that his product has been viewed.

Is there an existing stone that processes this? I just ran into Pusher, but that seems to be too big.

There are several gems that do this:

RailsActivity

https://www.ruby-toolbox.com/categories/Rails_Activity_Feeds

Publicactivity

http://railscasts.com/episodes/406-public-activity

https://github.com/pokonski/public_activity

I never used them (although I probably will do it tomorrow ^^), so maybe someone with more experience can give you a better idea, taking into account your requirements (or read part of the documentation)

All gems mentioned above by different people are designed to implement an activity feed. There are many differences between the implementation of the Facebook news feed and the facebook notification system.

To implement the notification system, I recommend that you check these links. Gritter

Have you seen this http://railscasts.com/episodes/260-messaging-with-faye ? This example uses Faye. I'm not sure if you still find this redundant.
