I really like the next episode

31 days Windows 8

I also think that the generation application has good resources and even offers a free 1 on 1 consultation.

One of the best resources for me was Windows 8 application examples , it is really useful to use these examples, although not all examples are straightforward.

My book, “Building Applications for Windows 8 with C # and XAML (I’m not going to publish a vanity link specifically, but you need to find it easily in search of the name), has a whole chapter on XAML that I find in sufficient detail.

I can recommend this book with Charles Petzold:
Windows® Programming, 6th Edition

It contains basic guides on how to use and write XAML code, how to work with page layout, use styles and templates, etc. It is currently available for preview at a discounted price. The final book is expected early next year.

I think the best resource for learning new technology is to write code with it. The most useful learning mechanism I've used is the Contoxo Cookbook lab, which will help you create most of the new features for Windows Store apps. You can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=29854 . Choose Win8CS.Setup.exe for C # and XAML.

You will need Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows 8; you can download it for free http://aka.ms/JenVS2012 (half down the page in blue).

Finally, the Generation App contains a program that helps you learn how to write a Windows Store app in 30 days . Every day you will receive an email that will give you the next step so that you can learn step by step to create an application. The program also provides free design advice and technical support.
