Integrate SAP into an ASP.NET project?

I'm on the verge of getting an ASP.NET project that will integrate with SAP. I am a .net programmer, I don't know anything about SAP. Now one of our customers has an SAP system .. and I need to create a website that will have a regular database (for example, sql sever 2008), and also must interact with the existing SAP system of this company. Now my request is what I need to know in order to approach this thing. I heard about the SAP.NET Connector ... how can I download it? I do not want this to be free, I must have an SAP password for this. what else do i need ??? I need information about this ....

Thanks in advance....

Basically you have two options:

  • Use the official SAP.NET connector. You could receive it through your client.
  • Use ERPConnect . We use this software in one of our projects and work flawlessly, even with high bandwidth.

I had to do this a few years ago, isn’t it as straightforward as it would be for connecting to other data sources, for example, to the oracle. To do this, you will need a special type of authorization (called S-Number).

Check it out .

Also, this SO question has a little discussion on this.

Good luck.

Using SAP.NET is a good option only if you have all the APIs already available in the SAP system, the so-called RFCs. If this is not the case, even for SAP.NET you need to gain some knowledge of SAP programming (ABAP) and develop some RFC features, or you need someone who does it for you.

For more information on RFC functions, see here: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/22/042518488911d189490000e829fbbd/frameset.htm

And if you are already doing any kind of support on the SAP side, and your release of Netweveaver is not too historical (say, 7.00 or better), I would strongly recommend creating web services from these RFCs (can be done with 3-4 clicks), and then call them regular SOAP services.

How to enable RFC in web service: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e9/ae1b9a5d2cef4ea4b579f19d902871/frameset.htm

How to enable the web service and create the consumption endpoint: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/47/3971ff39591a53e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm

Thus, all the special materials in the SAP system and your .NET solution will be based only on standard material and your .NET knowledge.
