Telnet - localhost

Hi, I am trying to understand a network command like ssh and telnet. Unfortunately, I do not have a system other than mine, so I only test with localhost. while I can do ssh locally, when I try to telnet locally, I get this error

The command I'm trying to use telnet localhost, I do not enter any port.

Attempt 127.0.0.1 ...

telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: connection rejected

Attempt fe80 :: 1 ...

telnet: connect to fe80 :: 1: connection rejected

telnet: unable to connect to remote host

If I can do ssh locally, does the same need to apply for telnet?

Apparently you do not have a telnet server running locally on your computer.

To see how the telnet command works, you can do the following:

telnet debra.dgbt.doc.ca

telnet example.com 80

Install Telnet Server:

Control Panel / Turn Windows Features On / Off → Telnet Server

For ssh, you can install freeSShd , which is a free ssh daemon
