MS Search Server 2010 Express: problem with crawl rules for a site requiring cookie

I am trying to create a crawl rule through the central administrator for a site without SharePoint using Search Server Express 2010.

If I upload a cookie, I get an error message after the crawl is complete, indicating that the parameter is invalid. I am not sure what format the cookie should be, but the one I tried gives all this an error, and I could not find the expected format on the Internet. Can someone provide a link to the correct format?

If I try to specify the URL to receive the cookie, I get the following JS error in IE8.

"Access is denied by FormsAuthenticationProxyPage.aspx line 138."

I also tried setting the cookie to the server code of the site if the user agent matches the search engine, but this also did not work. The cookie may not be stored or transmitted back when the crawler crawls.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm not sure if this is suitable for Express Edition, but you should be able to centrally specify a cookie for authentication.
