As a rule, the best performance in Solr is achieved when the entire index can be loaded into RAM on the server. Thus, as soon as you determine the physical size of your index, if you can allocate this amount of RAM, plus what the operating system needs, should give you better index performance. If you cannot put all this on one server, you may consider splitting the index into several fragments. When updating the index, the fast disk will work with performance.
