Flex Windows 8 - Soft Keyboard Does Not Display

In our Flex application in Windows 8 in Metro mode, the software keyboard does not appear when you touch TextInput. Oddly enough, if you set displayAsPassword = "true", then the keyboard will appear.

How can I get TextInput to work with soft keys in Win8?
