IPython Directory Directory Bypass

Previous question: “Multiple directories and / or subdirectories in an IPython Notebook session” ask about directory traversal. The answer was that this feature is suitable. I also saw a command line flag that starts the server in a specific directory. I can no longer find this post. The flag is not mentioned in official documentation.

What is the command line flag for installing the working directory?

When can we expect to see directory functionality in an IPython laptop?

I believe the flag you are looking for --notebook-dir=/home/foo/wherever . I found this by running ipython notebook --help .

Navigating directories while the server is running is still "getting closer," unfortunately. This is one of those things that will need to be done correctly, and the people who can do it (which doesn't include me) are pretty busy.
