Android application that displays various layouts simultaneously with hdmi

I want to create an application that will display various layouts on the phone and various layouts on the display related to HDMI. In the first layout, only the controls will be displayed, and the information and layout on the HDMI-connected display will display things such as a photo or video, or maybe a photo with user-defined text. I want this application to work without root. I know this is possible because mxplayer is very familiar with what I want.

When HDMI is connected to the phone, it automatically adapts the video to the TV, and the controls are visible only on the phone. Can someone help me?

There is nothing for this in the Android SDK. Some device manufacturers may have options for this particular equipment - for example, I seem to remember that HTC offers something for this.
