Deny Deploy Transport Package

We are using Tridion 2011 SP1. Content delivery is located in .Net.

We want to make only the transport package available to the search engine. This search engine will extract the required content / metadata from the transport package and index it. The search engine is installed on another domain / server.

To do this, we want to set up a targeted publication that will publish content on a search engine server, but will not deploy content. Only the transport package will be available in some folder (incoming \ success). Can we do this with HttpUpload.aspx and disable some settings in cd_storage_config or cd_deployer_conf.

I would say that @Jeremy's approach is the right answer, but if writing a storage engine in Java is too tax-prone, you can simply allow articles to be published to the file system and schedule a simple script to delete all files daily / hourly to save disk space.

It does not require integration efforts with SDL Tridion.

A standard approach for this would be to expand the CD storage process. You can find a good explanation on how to do this at http://www.sdltridionworld.com/articles/sdltridion2011/tutorials/extending-content-delivery-storage-sdltridion-2011-1.aspx
