Where are DirectShow samples in the Windows 8 SDK?

DirectShow samples were in (root of the SDK samples) \ DirectShow \ in the Windows 7.1 SDK, but in the Windows 8 SDK there are no files in either C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Windows Kits \ 8.0 or C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Microsoft SDKs \ Windows. Samples are also not available for download at http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps

I believe that DirectShow will be phased out and replaced by the Microsoft Media Foundation (MF). I think this was the intention with Windows Vista, although at that time MF was not capable enough to replace DirectShow. Microsoft officials said that DirectShow will not be supported in Metro UI applications.

I think dshow.h, quartz.dll etc. still in the Window 8 SDK. However, although Windows 8 will still run DirectShow programs on a regular desktop, it might seem that DirectShow samples will never be included in the Windows 8 SDK or the new Windows Dev Center , as it is deprecated. I couldn’t find anything that would be final, but most of the information about MF seems to indicate that DirectShow is not the way forward, and there has been a lot of cleaning up and removing obsolete artifacts from the Windows 8 SDK.

Fwiw, there are several unofficial samples using DirectShow at Windows Dev Center.

Have you tried the Windows Development Kit (SDK) for Windows 8 (desktop and Win32 applications)?
