Button "Browse with ..." is missing in VS 2012

I upgraded the MVC 3 project to MVC 4 according to the instructions here: http://www.asp.net/whitepapers/mvc4-release-notes#_Toc303253806

Everything works fine, except that I don’t have a new Browse With .. button that appears on the toolbar, and I can’t activate this option in the project’s context menu.

I should note that the button displays correctly in new MVC4 projects (i.e. created from scratch instead of updating).

How can i fix this?

Update: See the Workaround in my answer below.

I managed to fix this by creating a new .sln and adding my projects to it.

Right-click the top menu and add the Standard toolbar.

If it does not already exist, you can right-click → Configure, select the Commands tab. Select "Toolbar": "Standard", then click "Reset" All "(this will only reset the" Standard "toolbar).

Try adding the .aspx web form to your project. You should get the "Browse with ..." option in the context menu by right-clicking on this file in Solution Explorer. You should be able to change your browser this way. You can then delete the .aspx file as soon as you select your browser. I had to do this in the past.
