Frame 2 authentication options

I am going to choose authentication for the Java 2 Play 2 application. For now, it would just be the username / pw and Facebook supported by MongoDB.

There seem to be two options: securesocial and play-authenticate

How do they compare? I see that both have support for common providers, and based on a quick look at the authentication game, it seems harder.

play-authenticate is "more advanced", it uses the basic idea of securesocial's + additionally also includes deadbolt-2 inside to immediately get a full authorization authorization stack.

You wrote โ€œat the moment it would be simple ...โ€ however you should think about this topic, and โ€œfinally, it will be simple / advanced, so I need to choose the right solution at the beginningโ€. And I would suggest a PA.

Play-authenticate was based on the SecureSocial design. Both modules provide authentication for Play apps, so I guess it's just an attempt to try both and see what works best for you.
SecureSocial is written in Scala and provides an API in Java and Scala so you can use your preferred language. Check out the latest user guide at http://www.securesocial.ws .
