Should I use Growl for Mac?

I am creating a mac application (new in cocoa) and I need to use a notification on the monitor. I was about to realize a growl. But I see that growling is no longer free on the App Store. So I wondered if he would still be the default notification manager for macs.

Do you think I should use Growl for my on-screen notifications? If there are no other offers?

It's not free, but you can download the separate Growl library, which allows your application to display Growl notifications without having to install Growl on a user Mac.

See the Growl website for more information.

With that said, yes, the use of a growl is recommended because of what is familiar to him. However, if you intend to support Mac OS X 10.8+, I would say that just use the new Notification Center.
