Install lithium frame structure

I have been working with the codeigniter user for a long time, and I like the way you can just download it, extract it and upload it to your server via ftp and that it is ready to go.

Now I'm interested in trying the lithium framework, but oh, my tips, access to the shell, github ... This is out of my scope, plus I do not have access to the shell of my host.

Do I really need all this? Can I not just download it, extract and download via ftp?

Thanks in advance!

Not sure what you mean, the lithium structure has a direct link to download them: http://sourceforge.net/projects/li3/files/

Or you can go to github and click on ZIP: https://github.com/UnionOfRAD/lithium

@Wyck and @Tomen have the right, access to the shell helps, like git (hub) ... but it is optional.

Here's a quick guide to turning on and starting lithium without access to the shell or command line:

  • Read the docs! Seriously, just browse through quickstart to feel lithium
  • Create a directory in your root directory (/ var / www / newsite, c: \ inetpub \ wwwroot \ newsite, whatever applies to your situation)
  • Download a sample lithium application . This is really just a plugin app.
  • Extract the sample lithium application to the new root site. The root of your site should look like this: Lithium step 4
  • Download the lithium structure and extract it to / libraries / lithium /. Example: Lithium step 5

The rest is up to you. You will need to configure database connections, boot files, etc. Independently.

There is no official comment on this. You are usually expected to have shell access. But from a brief overview of my documents, I can say the following:

You will not need access to the shell if:

  • You have access to FTP
  • The basic setup of your web server is as expected by lithium. For example: Apache 2 + mod_rewrite enabled + PHP 5.3

This should give you the basic functions of lithium. If you want to use data sources like MongoDB or CouchDB, this is a different story and you will need to check if your server supports their support. If not, you will need access to the shell to install and configure them accordingly.
