Launching the multi-phone selection bar

I am working on a project that includes multi-position blocks on a mobile device. On mobile devices, the default style for multiselects is very ugly. I want to do something similar to what was found using jQuery Mobile , where you click on the link and it calls the multiplex field of the phone. However, due to the way jQuery Mobile takes your site, using jQueryM is not really an option.

Does anyone know how I can initiate a selection / focus / click / touch multi selector field on a phone? I tried to make a shortcut, click and focus the function, but no luck.

Just tested by firebug, this particular page is just a standard selection menu with 0 opacity overlaid on top of the button. You - see - you click the button, but in fact it is a normal drop-down list.
