Is there a way to debug an Android application on a phone without a USB connection?

Is there any way to install the application that I find in the middle of development on my phone, without going through all the steps to sign it, releasing it, etc.? (Without connecting a USB phone)

I am still very developed in the middle, but I need to demonstrate the progress that I have made so far to other members of my team who are out of access to my development environment, so I need to install it on my phone.

There is an apk file inside the bin project folder. If you copy this file to the device, you can install the application from it.

When I'm in your situation, I drop my apk into the dropbox and send links for people to download it.

You can try adb wireless http://www.helloandroid.com/content/connect-your-android-phone-adb-wireless

But I really don’t understand why you cannot export and install an unsigned application?

In & t (and possibly other carriers), configure the firmware to prevent side loading, so you need a USB connection if this is your carrier. Otherwise, just put apk on the website and enable installation from unauthorized sources.

See that for debugging you can use adb-wireless, which provides the same functions as using USB.

Also, to install directly on the phone, you can try it and see if it helps.

  • Go to Settings β†’ Applications
  • Select the Unknown Sources option. This allows you to install applications on your phone, even if the application is not released on the Android Market.
  • If you use Eclipse or any other IDE, just click on the project and launch the Android app. The application must be installed directly. (Installation should not depend on whether you use adb-wireless or USB).
