Recommend it please: static ruby site generator

I really, really love Octopress (read his documents) it looks amazing!

But, unfortunately, I do not know anything about the ruby, I do not have cars with the ruby installed and really got confused in all these racks, precious stones, bundles, etc.

This ruby stuff looks like hell to me.

There may be something like an octopress or something else to generate a static site.

  • modern (social buttons, etc., html5)
  • simple (without tools 100500 rubish)
  • unix style
  • comments (integration with social or popular services)

This is the best review I've read about static site generators. If you do not want to use Ruby, you will have to use Python at least. Or write your blog on Markdown on Github. You do not need to install any of the Jekyll dependencies and are easy to configure.

You can try Nikola ( http://nikola.ralsina.com.ar ), it has everything you described, and some other things)

  • This fully HTML5 has social buttons by default (via addthis)
  • It has many dependencies, but then you manage it with only one team
  • Unix-style cookies didn’t sound like I was writing this, but hey, I'm a unix guy, so at least he's unixy; -)
  • Comes with disqus support out of the box.

I resolve this issue differently.

Instead of using static-site-generator, I took my favorite mojoliciuos and wget -r framework.

His work is very good for me.
