How to start PowerShell 3.0?

I installed CTP for Windows Management Framework 3.0, which includes PowerShell 3.0.

But now I can’t figure out how to start PowerShell 3.0. I do not see the new PowerShell installation folder with the powershell.exe executable.

Any help is much appreciated!

Once you have installed CTP, when you start Powershell, it starts v3.0.

You can execute $PSVersionTable to confirm.

If you want to run the v2.0 engine, you can do powershell -version 2.0

Note that Powershell, as with v2.0, is still installed in the v1.0 folder.

You will not receive a new folder. Just start Powershell, as usual after installation, and you should start V3. Run get-host and it should tell you that your version number is 3.0.
