Create / deploy war file from Eclipse web project

I donโ€™t know if anyone asked about this, but I have a problem that I am working on this tutorial Hello World example with Spring 3 MVC annotation in Eclipse . Now I am very confused to say how can I make a war file for deployment on tomcat. Please help me in this regard. thank you

PS: Just to tell you that I have Tomcat 6.0 and eclipse indigo 3.7

You have many options depending on the environment you are using; simpler ways could be:

  • for testing purposes, you can refer to the Tomcat installation inside your Eclipse on the Severs tab in the J2EE perspective and add your Dynamic Web Project to it; then you can manage (start / stop / debug) your server from Eclipse
  • To create a war for deployment, you can right-click on the Dynamic Web Project and select Export War File

I would recommend using Apache Maven, as it will help you a lot, as the project will grow in size and you will have many dependencies. You can try it as an Eclipse plugin (m2eclipse) or use it from the command line.
