EAR Version 1.4, 5, 6

Can someone explain the difference in EAR versions to me.

Is this related to JDK versions 1.4, 5 and 6?

Thanks.

This is not a JDK version . This is a version of J2EE / Java EE.

He asks you which version of J2EE / Java EE has an ear format (deployment descriptor, etc.), should match: J2EE 1.2 or 1.3 or 1.4 or Java EE 5 or Java EE 6.

Application servers publish their compliance levels. And some application servers usually support older versions of the ears. E.g. WebSphere 6.x is compatible with J2EE 1.4, but it can still work with version 1.3 of the ear.

enter a description of the link here. Which application server and version do you plan to eventually deploy? You would like your ear to match the level of compliance with the target application server. For example, Oracle 10.1.3.5 is J2EE 1.4, while JBoss 7 is compatible with Java EE 6.0.

Wikipedia and others are trying to track what each level of vendor matching is .
