PHP Search Integration Issues - Sphinx

Question

I installed sphinx.0.9.9 on my LINUX server and tested the application in the terminal. It works when I tried to use sphinxapi.php, I get the following problem. "Request failed: connection to localhost: 9312 failed (errno = 111, msg = Connection failed).". Can someone help me sort this out?

check the status of the sphinx search service "searchd", you may have forgotten to run it or listen on another port.
