What is the smartest way to make my search available?

I know there is couchdb-lucene, but I am hosted on terrific IrisCouch and I cannot install plugins. Are there any other options? Which setting would be the simplest and most transparent and allow me to continue working with the grandeur that CouchDB doesn't care about the search layer?

Consideration: I have about 8 million documents, so creating a specific presentation that emits every word in each of my documents will not be very effective.

I think the CouchDB river plugin for elasticsearch will meet your needs. It does not need any configuration on the CouchDB side - all you have to do is perform a very simple setup on the elasticsearch node.
