Visual Studio 2010 loses user preferences when run side by side

For some time now I have been registering annoying behavior in Visual Studio 2010 SP1 under Windows Vista. Sometimes my user settings are lost at startup. This happens most of the time when I opened the same solution in parallel in two VS instances and after closing both parameters are lost the next time VS starts. I do not change the settings while running two VS.

Has anyone experienced the same behavior?

In the course, I saved my settings, but especially short keyboard shortcuts cannot be completely restored, because I overwritten some global short shortcuts by default. So what bothers me the most. ([EDIT] This is an independent issue, see Microsoft Connect .

Is there a way to get VS not to kill my settings at startup?

VS overwrites user settings when closing. If you want to avoid such problems, you must close the instance in which you made the changes last.
