Redirect and save my icon

I was wondering how facebook redirects save their icon when you click the facebook link on its open new tab with favicon FB

I am wondering how can this be done?

This is not an iframe, as I can do it

Where should I start? And although the redirect is a URL, maybe it does everything

Yours faithfully

Are you using Google Chrome. I am pretty sure that you mean a known mistake. See this error that has been combined into this error .

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  • Visit the site with /favicon.ico (e.g. facebook.com)
  • Get a redirect from this domain to a new domain without /favicon.ico
  • The icon for the new URL is inherited from the last domain.

What is the expected result?

Favicon is empty.

What happens instead?

Favicon inherits from the last domain.

Other information:

I found this because facebook.com does not link directly to external sites, but writes the URL and then redirects it. I reproduced the question on localhost using the 'redirect' operator in the Ruby web-framework 'Sinatra'.

An icon is stored in your browser and grouped with the domain name of your site. In other words, once you have downloaded facebook once, it will be displayed on all facebook pages.
