IPhone app - settings icon really needed to release the application?

after reading http://www.weston-fl.com/blog/?p=840 , I noticed that in the right list of icons there is one for settings, is it really necessary

Icon-settings.png 29 x 29 Universial application icon for settings area. Alternative Name: Icon-Small.png

EDIT: found an article detailing the settings icon and installation package http://useyourloaf.com/blog/2010/5/18/adding-a-settings-bundle-to-an-iphone-app.html

If your application does not have an entry in the settings, there is no need for an icon.

I think the 29x29 icon is used in search results if your application matches the search. But if there is no β€œright” size icon, 57x57 (or another available icon) will be used instead. By providing all the icons of various sizes, you have the opportunity to make sure that the icon shown by your application in all possible scenarios is exactly how you want it to look. Compare this to the way your 57x57 icon looks at 29x29 when it is simply scaled down. But, nevertheless, there is no strict requirement to include the size 29x29.
