What server-side rendering components can be used with .NET, PHP, Ruby, etc.?

I need a server-side PDF component that allows me to display and transfer PDF documents, regardless of add-ons and plug-ins on the client. The component will need to use similar functionality as Adobe Reader as an example for printing, rotation, encryption, etc. Are there any solutions that I can use on a cheap basis?

I think it is best to use an existing service.

A quick search led me to these:

• Zoho viewer
• Google docs viewer
• Internet viewer for PDF, PostScript and Word
• Scribd

Please note that I have experience with any of them, so I can’t say whether they work well or not. In addition, I do not know how difficult it would be to integrate your application into their use.

For PHP, my decision is to choose TCPDF , and for Java it will be iText. Both are free and open source.

For .NET, you can use Atalasoft dotImage with a PDF add-on to the rasterizer (disclaimer, I work in Atalasoft and am responsible for most of dotImage).
