Can I use Java in QNX?

I have to serve two masters. One project, which is expected to be split into two after version 1.0.

Originally it was a simple embedded project encoded in C using FreeRTOS. It can be up to version 1.0.

Then one master says that we must use QNX to please the partner or lose the deal, while the other says that we must use the J / XFS extension (Java for financial services ) or lose another deal.

QNX is not in a hurry with Java support. The best I can find is this link , but hardly officially.

So, can anyone shed some light on Java on QNX?

I have to say that I never tried using Java under QNX, so my answer is intended to help, but it will not be final.

This seems to be something that third parties should provide, and obviously something QNX is not too worried about. They left their own development environment, which also ran under QNX in Momentics based on Eclipse and therefore obviously requires Java, around version 6.3 and does not yet have a QNX version.

By posting this answer on the support forums, you have existing options:

  • QNX partners Apogee Software or MicroDoc can provide updated support for IBM J9 (via the found link).
  • Aonix (PERC VM)
  • Aicas (Jamaican VM)

I assume your other options are to get the open source JVM and port it.
