Unfortunately, this is impossible to do. The dual-height status bar is only used for VoIP and audio recordings, as well as for connections to personal access points.

However, you are interested in placing custom text on the status bar, then there are a lot of great solutions (the one that I use https://github.com/myell0w/MTStatusBarOverlay ). And the best part is not a violation if Apple policy! Many applications, including the Gmail application, use this and are in the App Store for a long time.
