Which format to choose in "Save Graphics As" in Math

I want to use math to create stories for the book I am writing. I want to make a plot in mathematics, save it as an image, and then import it into quarkxpress and finally export it in pdf format.

My question is in which format is the best to use? When I go to "save graphics as" in math, I have many formats to choose from (.jpeg, .png, .jpeg2000, .gif, .bmp)

If Quark imported PDF, you would have the best. But apparently this is not so. It handles transparency and other similar things.

So, for vector graphics use EPS or, on Windows, try WMF. If you use WMF, beware of issues around WMF with BarChart and friends. See Workaround in the editor for this answer .

For bitmap graphics, for example, using textures, use PNG. This is the lightest raster type graphic format I know of.
