What is the role of the project owners group at Gerrit?

I am new to Gerrit.

I installed version 2.1.8 on my local machine to poke. My role is Administrators

I see a group called "Project Owners" in which I cannot add a user to this group.

What is the role of this group? How to add a user to this group?

Project owners are the usual placeholder for Owner group capabilities in the context of a specific project.

You can set the group as the owner of a specific link in a specific project:

Access → Add link → Add permission ... → Owner

Then select the group name to be included among the owners. The selected group inherits the capabilities of the "Project Owners" in the link to the project.

Project owners are a virtual group. You cannot add members to it or include them in other groups.

According to the documentation :

The permissions assigned to this group are always evaluated in the context of the project to which the permissions apply.
