Signing Android apk?

I am currently developing Android applications on a Windows machine and have signed a contract with "production.keystore", which I originally created on a Windows machine. Now that I have switched to Mac OS, can I use the old "production.keystore" or do I need to restore a new one? Will I still be able to sign the apk and release the update on the Android Market? Thank you very much

Yes, you can still use this keystore. This is a universal format, if you store this file and have the android SDK on this computer, you can use it to sign your apk, regardless of the platform you use. (The android sdk tools will take care of this).

Updates to your application are only possible if you sign the same as for the initial publication. So no, you should not generate a new key. Use an existing one and keep it safe from harm - if you lose it, you can no longer update your application.

I went through this, moving from Win to Linux. I was able to simply copy the source keystore file to your new computer and use it to continue the subscription. Eclipse / ADT will prompt you to use a key store that will be used when you select "Export Signed."

If you sign a new keystore and try to download apk as an update to an existing application on the Market, it will not allow it.
