Ios5 iPad: the best way to transfer files from a PC via Wi-Fi to iPad (network browser / file transfer)

Question

I apologize if this was answered. We searched and invented many pieces of the puzzle many times, but didn’t.

We have an iPad application in which we want to allow the user to select the file browser in the application and view network drives, select a large file (photo or video up to 1 GB) and transfer it to the iPad for local storage.

We do not want the user to use iTunes or any additional software on his computer. Files on the PC will be in folders such as "My Pictures" if Windows, etc. We need it to work on both PC and Mac.

We looked at Bonjour, CocoaHttpServer, ftp, Samba, SimpleNetworkStreams, CocoaAsyncSocket, and other solutions, but we feel like we can reinvent the wheel, and this may be the preferred pipeline.

Any suggestions?
