TortoiseSVN "Invalid argument detected"

I am trying to check the SVN repository with TortoiseSVN on a Windows 2008 server. I get the error "Found invalid argument" error during validation, and that’s all. Any idea what could be the problem here?

This problem is resolved in the new version 1.7.3. Tested on win7 x64.

I had the same problem for Windows 7 64 bit, with version 1.7.2 of Tortoise SVN. I uninstalled it and installed 1.7.1, and this helped solve the problem. (At the bottom of the download page there is a link "Previous Versions").

This seems to be a server related certificate error.

On a clean install of Windows 7 64bit, I got the same crash when browsing to the https site.

When starting 1.7.1 (install here)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tortoisesvn/files/1.7.1/Application/

this triggered a warning about my invalid certificate, which I could accept on an ongoing basis, and now it works. 1.7.2 failure and does not cause a warning.

You can try this, from http://svn.haxx.se/tsvnusers/archive-2010-03/0191.shtml

Configure your antivirus scanner to leave the tortoiseproc.exe process. and make sure that it does not "sanitize" network traffic.

user1092552 just said. The problem seems to be related to the certificate acceptance dialog. In 1.7.2, it is not displayed, and the error message "Invalid argument detected" appears in its place.

What I've done:

  • remove 1.7.2
  • install 1.7.1
  • connect to my repository and accept the certificate on an ongoing basis
  • update to 1.7.2

Thus, the certificate has already been accepted and the dialogue is no longer requested. Everything works as expexted.

Hooray!
