Using IE6 in Windows XP Mode to Access a Tomcat Instance Running on a Host (Windows 7)

I have

  • Windows 7 as a Tomcat host running on port 8080
  • Windows XP mode (virtual machine) with a margin of Internet Explorer 6 running inside an instance of Windows 7

I need to make sure that the site I'm developing supports IE6 (to some extent). What is the easiest way to access an instance of Windows Tomcat with Windows 7 from inside a virtual machine (XP mode)?

I tried switching to localhost: 8080 / ... but no luck. What am I missing?

IE6 is a dead browser, and Windows XP is an unsupported operating system.

At the time of writing, less than 4% of the world uses an outdated and unsupported browser in accordance with the Microsoft IE6 countdown. https://www.modern.ie/en-us/ie6countdown

I highly recommend that you do not waste time adding additional compatibility for such obsolete and practically unused technologies, except that your boss requires you to do this.
