Link to the application store for updates - iPhone does not work on iPad?

I use the link: itms-apps: //phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftwareUpdate? id = APP_ID & mt = 8

(replacing APP_ID with application ID)

It works fine with the iPhone (iOS4.3 and iOS5), but on the iPad (iOS5) the link switches to the AppStore, but the page doesn’t load "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store"

Any ideas?

Use the creator of iTunes Link:

http://itunes.apple.com/linkmaker/

Just paste in your application name, select your iOS application and it will create a link for you.
