iPad and various Android tablets have been around for a long time, but I could not find the answer to this question: when using a tablet, which orientation is used most often, especially for a web browser?
My special need is to optimize the user interface for a mobile web application, but I was hoping that I would start some statistics ... while I am familiar with where to find statistics on the monitor size in general, I found nothing specifically about tablets (size or orientation).
My guess is that most users browse web pages in portrait orientation, but I would like some numbers to return to some business people.
Yes, I know well that a) "market statistics" can deceive and b) responsive design dictates that I will need to develop a decent experience for landscape users ... again, I just hoped to find some numbers or general wisdom to help justify user interface design direction.
