User entry in the context menu

Question

Dropbox adds a custom entry to the Mac OS context menu, so if I get to the Dropbox folder and right-click on a file or folder, I see a Dropbox entry.

How can I add an entry to the system-wide context menu? Are there any hacks? How can I do this programmatically?

If you want to do this only in the application, check out this article from Apple called Displaying the context menu

But I assume that you want to do this for all context menus, at the bottom of the page that I linked above, on how to create a "Contextual Menu Plug-in" (or CFPlugin) set to "Library/Contextual Menu Items" Here's a reference guide for plugins and CFPlugins . It also mentions that you need to implement some Carbon menu manager functions, but I'm not sure if this corresponds to 10.6 or 10.7.
