Removing a specific character from a string

Question

I am not very good at programming and really need help. I retrieve reports from a field, contains a line of text limited to 80 characters. If someone enters more than 80 characters, "+" is added and the text continues. Therefore, I want to delete all “+” signs or every 81st character. I tried using the Replace formula, but could not get it to work. The field name is rlmain.desc. Need help with the formula and its location. Thanks for any help you can provide.
