What are the specifications / recommendations of iOS for background images in the navigation bar?

Does anyone know the resolution of iOS images for the background in the navigation bar? Ive found permissions for almost all the other elements on the Custom Icon Shortcuts and Image Creation page, but I could not find anything for the pixel size requirements for the background images of the navigation bar (both regular and mesh).

The iOS navigation bar is 44 pixels high and 320 pixels wide. On Retina displays, these numbers double: 88 pixels and 640 pixels respectively.

The navigation bar is 44 pixels high. You can check the sizes of any element of the iOS interface by creating it in the interface builder and clicking the size indicator (ruler).

Notice that there is a problem that I reported here . It seems you canโ€™t set the width and insertion of the image of the button element on the navigation element from the IB-size inspector or programmatically, they just do not work. You can do this for a toolbar button element. This seems to be a mistake.

By the way, here is a link to the Apple Icon Guide .

Apple does not support api for setting the background image of the NavigationBar.
You can install only tintColor. Or you can subclass and implement the direct (draw): drawRect: (CGRect) method.
