Metabase key '/ lm / w3svc' not found

I have a laptop with Windows XP. Trying to deploy an ASP.NET web application on IIS 6, I received the following error:

Error 1 Failed to complete the web deployment task. (The metabase key / lm / w3svc could not be found.) The metabase key '/ lm / w3svc' was not found. The base metabase base object cannot be created. “IIS 6 Metabase Compatibility” may not be installed. Klasse is niet geregistreerd (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

Installing the Metabase IIS 6 compatibility feature in Windows XP is not available in Control Panel, Administrative Tools, ... How about this metabase key '/ lm / w3svc'? Thank you for your help?

Windows XP only has IIS 5.1 if you install it through the control panel.

This may be the reason.

/ lm / w3svc is the base key in the IIS6 metabase, which contains all the websites registered in IIS.

I was getting the same error on Windows 10, following the instructions from the Microsoft documentation here, and now it has been fixed.
