Improve gradle startup time with groovyserv or nailgun or what

I am trying to improve Gradle startup time. The experimental switch --daemon doesn't seem to really speed it up. Therefore, I am thinking of using some server process that is not dependent on gradle, and make gradle with it. The options I have found so far are

Since gradle is started by the shell script, it requires some configuration. My question is: has anyone used the above options to start gradle? Or if you have successfully used another option, what is it?

I assume that your assembly does something during setup, which it should do at runtime. Using m5 gradle build --profile you will get an HMTL report showing the time. Another way to see what happens is gradle build --info or gradle build --debug .
