Some books or periodicals from the Amazon Kindle store have this cool feature that displays a palette or title when you read them. It is displayed as the first line of text. This is not a panel that has battery and wireless signal icons. This is the first line below, right above the content.
For example, if you are in the middle of chapter 2, it shows the title of the chapter on this line. This is really great, and I would like to implement this in my books.
I have the correct TOC, cover and start page. I followed the recommendations in the Kindle Publishing Guide . In fact, I use KindleGen to convert from a generated EPUB to a bat. I mention this in order to get rid of simple RTFM answers. :) In all the manuals that I read, I did not find anything mentioned above.
Books with this function are encrypted, so I canโt find out how they work by browsing their files. Another thing, they are in the AZW format, which should simply be renamed MOBI. Perhaps the feature described is exclusive to the Kindle?
I thought I would ask the Kindle / MOBI / EPUB guru: how can I implement such a feature in my books?
