301 Redirect problem, spaces on old URL?

Question

I have a ton of 301 redirects configured from the old site to the new one (which works on Joomla 1.6, but that doesn't matter.)

I have an old URL that has spaces in it, for example: Redirect 301 / city / Louisiana_New% 20Orleans http://www.nutcracker.com/yourcity/new-orleans-la

So, in my .htaccess file, regardless of whether I leave space in the space (between New and Orleans) or leave% 20, it just goes to 404 and does not raise the new URL.

Any suggestions I can try?

This issue has been resolved. Putting the original URL in quotation marks with literal space solves the problem :-)

RewriteRule ^ / city / Louisiana_New \ sOrleans $ http://www.nutcracker.com/yourcity/new-orleans-la
